Alex Berrios Endorses Nikki Fried
for Florida Democratic Party Chair

February 15, 2023 - Florida Democratic Party Chair Candidate, Alex Berrios, has withdrawn from the race and pledged his full support to former Commissioner of Agriculture Nikki Fried.

In an email to donors and supporters, Berrios said, “I have known Nikki for years, and she is a proven advocate for Florida. She has been supportive of our work building grassroots infrastructure, has shown herself to be a fighter with spirit, and has a vision for Florida that aligns with ours. We must unite, and the leader we should unite behind is Nikki Fried.”

Berrios will remain at Mi Vecino, the year-round boots-on-the-ground organization he founded in early 2021, where he recently launched a community college campus voter registration program. He remains committed to the fight for Florida.

“The status quo hasn’t worked for Florida. Alex’s candidacy offered the new ideas, energy and plans that should be front and center in this race,” said Berrios' Campaign Manager, Devon Murphy-Anderson. “Commissioner Fried understands that the sustainable field programs he’s built are a bright light for Florida and proof that there is hope for the Sunshine State.”

“Thank you, Alex, for your commitment to the state of Florida, for building year-round infrastructure with Mi Vecino, and for your years of hard work on behalf of Democrats and the working class. I look forward to working together to successfully elect Democrats up and down the ballot. We will need all hands on deck as we work to rebuild our party and stop the GOP attack on everyday Floridians,” said Fried in response to the endorsement.
